Opi light purple8/28/2023 ![]() But, in actuality, I don’t think there’s such a thing as a true deep neon purple. You know, whenever I see purples added to a neon collection, I tend to get very hopeful. You must wear a top coat to really bring out the outstanding beauty and the jelly-ish finish. In the bottle, it looks like an ordinary purple, but I was so happy to see that on the nails, it has a jelly-ish finish for that ‘squishy’ look that’s so cool! (I wasn’t able to get spot-on colour accuracy with my camera, and I keep it simple and don’t do colour correction with editing software.) Please note that in real life, the polish has a touch more pink undertones than what the bottle pictures might suggest. You can also go with a more opaque base coat with a lighter cast that can do something similar to a layer of white polish.Ĭan't get enough pastel? Try an easy pastel marble manicure with watercolor nail polish.Today, I have for you an in-depth review of OPI Push & Pur-Pull, which is from the Neon Collection that I did a Quick Look post on earlier. If you feel like your pastels aren't looking as bright as you'd like, apply a layer of white nail polish and then, once dry, paint your pastels over that. The nice thing about pastels is that they're attention-getting without being overly bold or flashy. If you're cool-toned, go for purples that are bluer. Think purples that are on the pinker side. So if you have warm-toned skin, go for pastels that have warmer look to them. Pastels are great because they tend to go well with any skin tone so what you really need to look out for is warm and cool tone pastels. How to Choose the Right Pastel Purple Nail Polish for Your Skin Tone? Plus they're thinner and more see-through and when light passes through a color, it appears lighter. The first flowers have delicate pinks and purples and even the leaves on the trees are a spring green as opposed to their deeper, summer green.Īccording to Inside Science, this lighter color is because the brand new leaves are only starting to produce chlorophyll, which is what gives leaves their green color. This is probably because the first colors to come in after a long, grey winter are pastel shades. When you look at spring and Easter decorations, it's pastels as far as the eye can see. Why Are Pastel Colors Associated With Spring? This also helps to make them more opaque and need fewer layers. When it comes to nail polish, pastel shades tend to have a lot of white in their formula which allows for those springy colors. A fire-engine red is highly saturated but if you desaturate that color you end up with pinks and eventually pastels. Saturation is a way to describe the intensity of colors, and one you've probably played with in your social media filter options. ![]() ![]() Just keep in mind that because flakies might not sit completely flat on the nail, they could leave a little bit of texturing after the polish dries but a good top coat should cover that up completely.Ī pastel shade is a color that is desaturated giving it a soft, light appearance. ILNP is one of my favorite brands for anything sparkly and I love the choice of these flakies because they add a different look than a typical glitter would and they’re also so much easier to remove than glitter. Watch this YouTube swatch video to see what the polish looks like at one and two coats. As a crelly, it’s not immediately opaque and can go one a little streaky at first but you can get full coverage in two to three coats depending on your application. It’s such a gentle lilac and the flakes really set it apart from all the rest. It’s from ILNP’s Hatched Collection so it’s no coincidence that it looks a little bit like a speckled bird’s egg. It’s a pastel purple crelly base (halfway between a cream and a translucent jelly base) with metallic purple flakies. ![]() Heather by ILNP brings a little extra fun to dress up the typical plain cream pastel polish. ![]()
